Swaply: From Pivot To First Place
Swaply: from pivot to first place
when i walked into the startup bootcamp, i planned to pitch bubble and maybe snag a win. no one joined my team. annoying, but ok.
instead of quitting, i pivoted. i looked around. other ppl were in the same spot. we linked up. one idea on the table was a student skill swap: an hour of math for an hour of writing. simple and solid.
then i started thinking bigger. why stop at coursework? what about hobbies, talents, random skills ppl r good at? why limit to one campus when communities everywhere need this?
that is how swaply formed. it is not about cash first. it is about time. one credit is about one hour of someone else’s effort. trade time, not money. start on campus for trust and safety, then expand to local communities. if u can match tutoring, u can match errands, rides, creative gigs, all the stuff ppl already use gig apps for.
in 48 hours we built:
- • a working demo
- • a clear story: boredom to skill to credits
- • a pitch that actually landed
we won first place. the bigger lesson: adaptability wins. u do not always win with the idea u walked in with. u win by listening, moving, and selling the value u can deliver right now.
next steps r obvious: campus hubs, verified users, escrowed credits, ai matchmaker, and a skills demand visualizer to show where supply and demand r hot. swaply is a way to turn idle time into real value.
